This is due to the stereotype that the elderly have gotten everything they need out of life and should be content to step aside for the next generation.But the truth is that we should all be free to do what we want, regardless of race, sex, or age. The elderly should not be treated as if they have already had their turn. They should be treated just like everyone else — as unique individuals.

Off-Broadway theater developed in 1950s New York City as a result of dissatisfaction with conditions on Broadway. Its founders believed that Broadway was overly concerned with producing safe, commercially successful hit plays rather than dramas with artistic quality. Off-Broadway producers assisted playwrights, directors, and performers who could not find work. Their shows were original and creative, and the ticket prices were low. Audiences were delighted with these affordable tickets for artistic shows, and Off-Broadway theater accepted. However, by the 1960s, costs had begun to rise, and by the 1970s, Off-Broadway theater was encountering many of the same difficulties as Broadway. With its decline, an experimental movement called Off-Off-Broadway theater developed.
